Welcome visitors into your Louisville home this Christmas with a beautifully decorated entry door. You can choose to use traditional decorations like wreaths, stockings and gifts to decorate your door, or more untraditional decorations such as sports memorabilia, seashells or themed items that have a Christmas twist to them.
Today we are going to focus on the traditional, with 2 easy ways to decorate your entry door.
“O’ Christmas Tree” Entry Door
Decking out the entry door with evergreen has been a tradition since long before many of us can remember. Evergreen branches and boughs are also the simplest way to decorate your entry door.
For those that want to show at least some Christmas spirit, but not spend anytime time putting up decorations, hang a plain evergreen wreath with a red, velvet bow tied to it. It’s easy, it’s simple, and it will give your Louisville home just a touch of Christmas.
For Louisville homeowners that are looking to spend a little more time to decorate their entry door, along the wreath, also hang an evergreen bough above the door frame. The bough should frame the door and can be further decorated by adding the same type of bow you have on the wreath on the bough where it rests at the top corner of the door frame.
“All I Want for Christmas” is a Beautiful Entry Door
Add bright, festive colors to your entry door this Christmas by using the Christmas gift as the focal point of your decorations. For your wreath, you can either hang an evergreen wreath with small Christmas presents attached to it, or you can make a Christmas present wreath.
A Christmas present wreath is simple to make; all you have to do is take a piece of wire (like an old hanger), shape it in a circle and string it with little Christmas gift ornaments. As you string the presents, leave at least a little wire at the end. When you have strung enough presents, wrap the part of the wire that you poked through the presents around the wire you left on the other end, to close the wreath. You can hang a bow on this part of the wreath to cover the wire, or you can wrap it in black electrical tape (so it doesn’t scratch your door) and bend it behind the wreath.
In addition to the wreath, also stack presents to the side of the door to add to the look. These presents can be colored boxes wrapped in the same color of cellophane gift wrap and a bow, to keep it at least somewhat protected from the elements. If the area around your entry door isn’t exposed to the elements at all, spray paint blocks of wood with a bright, glossy, spray paint and wrap them with a bow for presents that will last years to come.
