You don’t have to let Thanksgiving be the holiday that just provides a break between Halloween decorations and Christmas decorations. Thanksgiving can be decorated for just as much as the two holidays on either side of it. In fact, if you enjoy decorating more on the elegant side, rather than the fun comical side, then Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday for you to decorate for.
All of your Thanksgiving decorations will have some sort of a fall harvest theme to it, because the harvest was the whole point of our starting to celebrate this holiday in the first place. So your decorations will be along the lines of apples, pumpkins, gourds, etc. There will also be fall leaves in there to provide additional color and because fall leaves are the primary symbols of fall.
Glowing Harvest Window Decorations
If you have a wide window sill or a table in front of your window, remove everything from it and replace those items with a layer of fall leaves. On top of the leaves place glass or sparkly pumpkins, gourds, turkeys, and other Thanksgiving or harvest symbols.
When the sun starts to shine in the window, your Thanksgiving display will sparkle and glow.
Harvest Window Swags
Window swags are a subtle and elegant way to decorate for Thanksgiving. They are also extremely easy, because all you have to do it hang the swag above your window for the season and then remove it once it is time to decorate for Christmas. If you just decorate with swags, you are looking at a maximum of 2 minutes of decorating and removing per window.
Harvest window swags can be purchased at any store during the fall or you can make your own.
Harvest Window Tiebacks
Another simple way to decorate your windows for Thanksgiving is to replace your curtain tiebacks with ones that have more of a harvest theme to them. For example, you could use a strand of fall leaves or pumpkins to hold your curtains in an open position. Any harvest or Thanksgiving decoration that is in a strand, a rope, or is made with a wire can be used as a harvest tieback.
Incorporate the harvest tieback with the harvest swag, and you have a beautifully themed Thanksgiving window.
