Yellow is a color that makes us feel more cheerful and will brighten up anyone’s moods. It is a popular color that has been used on homes for a long time because of the positive feelings that it creates, so it’s really not that surprising that a variation of this popular color has been named as the color of the year for 2014.
The Effect Yellow Has on Us
Just looking at the color yellow makes us feel more cheerful and gives us a more upbeat outlook on life. It is also a color that encourages us to have more creative thoughts and inspires us to discover our surroundings.
The upbeat in mood that is caused by this color is one of the biggest reasons that it is such a good color to use on your windows and doors. Not only will you feel more cheerful when you get to your home, but your guests will also.
Many Variations to Choose
Yellow comes in many, many different variations, so there is a very slim chance that you will have the same exact color of yellow as your neighbor does. The problem that you may find that you have with yellow though, is that you may have too many different variations to choose from.
Go With the Color of the Year
If you are having a hard time selecting a good shade of yellow for your home, why not go with the 2014 color of the year?
For 2014, PPG Pittsburg Paints has chosen pale yellow as its color of the year. Why was pale yellow chosen for 2014?
Per their press release they chose this color because:
“Homeowners have moved away from the muted hues influenced by economic factors in recent years. Turning Oakleaf, which is soft enough to be a neutral but bright enough to generate a sunshine-like energy, represents a trend toward warmth in harmonious living, deep appreciation for the surrounding natural elements and a thorough understanding of enlightened philosophies,” said Dee Schlotter, brand manager, The Voice of Color program. “We are experiencing the popularity of the soft yellow shade across all markets, such as home decor, automotive and electronics, making it a clear Color of the Year selection.”
So if you are looking for a new color for the outside of your home this year, even if it is just for your windows and doors, go with the cheerful pale yellow.
