valentine window decoration

If you want to keep your Valentine’s Day decorating as simple as possible, consider skipping the hearts and going just with the colors of the holiday. Going with just the colors will give you the same festive look, but in a more elegant and grown up way.Recycling the Christmas OrnamentsIt is such a shame that beautiful Christmas ornaments only get to see the light of day for a brief period of time. To enjoy them longer, pull out the ones that could fit the traditional looks and colors of Valentine’s Day and use them to decorate your windows. They could be:

  • Red, white, or pink Christmas balls
  • Any ornament made with white lace
  • Red or white beaded garland
  • Any heart shaped ornament
  • Ornaments with people or animals kissing
  • Any decorative glass that is a neutral theme (not only connected to Christmas)

Once you select the ornaments that you are going to use, hang them in your windows with decorative pink or white thread. Stay away from red thread though, as it leans too close to being a Christmas color. After you round the ornaments up and get the thread on them, hang them in your windows. You can hang them in a pattern, at different heights, or just in a row. How you display them in your window really doesn’t matter, as long as you like how they look.Valentine’s Day GlassAnother way to decorate your windows for Valentine’s Day without getting campy is to display colored glassware in your windows. Luckily, red glassware is perfect for the holiday and can be matched with small pieces of clear glass to make a nice Valentine’s display. You can incorporate the colored glassware in with the current collection of items that you are already displaying in the window by swapping them with other pieces of glass. Or you can use the colored glass as stands to hold or display your current window treasures.Another idea is to remove everything you currently have in your window and replace it with a display of flowers in with the colored glass. White roses, daisies, and carnations display beautifully with the red colored glass, it gives your window a Valentine’s Day look, and gives you something different to look at in your window for a couple weeks.
