After the holidays, your Louisville windows probably end up with one or two sections on them where the tape you used to attach holiday decorations won’t come off. And while this stubborn stickiness is a good thing when you don’t want the item you taped to come off, it ends up being an annoyance when you need the tape itself to come off.Don’t think you have to live with this sticky residue or left behind tape on your windows forever though, there is a way to get it off and get your Louisville windows clean once again.Removing a Piece of Tape from Your WindowsWhole pieces of tape that are left on the window need to be scraped off. Try using your finger nail first to get as much off as possible, as your fingernail is the least likely to damage the glass. If your fingernail does not work, find an object with a thin straight edge to use. Items like a spatula, frosting spreader, or a pancake turner. There are many items in your kitchen that can be used to get this tape off, but the key is to try and use an item that is made of rubber or plastic first. The rubber or plastic can still do the job in getting off the tape, but are less likely to do damage to the window than other materials. As a last resort, if nothing else has worked to this point, use a butter knife to scrap the tape off. Be very careful and try not to scratch the window when you use the knife to get the tape off.Removing the Sticky Residue from Your WindowsOnce the non-sticky back of the tape is gone, and you are only left with sticky residue, spray the residue with glass cleaner and let it soak for a bit. Then wipe the area clean with a cloth. You can use a paper towel also, but you will find that the cloth is stronger, and you can apply more pressure to it to remove the sticky residue than you can the paper towel before the paper towel comes apart. If the window cleaner does not work, pour a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a sponge and rub it on the residue in a circular motion until all of the stickiness is gone. You can also use olive oil or cooking oil on the sticky area if nothing else you have tried up until now is able to get what is left of the tape off your Louisville windows.Source: SFGate.com
