step21

This year make your own St. Patrick’s Day window clings, instead of purchasing them from the store. All of the ones available in the stores are usually the same from one store to the next anyways, so everyone’s windows all end up looking the same.Making your own window clings are an easy way to break from looking the same, and make your windows stand out. What You Need:

  • Puffy Paint
  • Wax Paper
  • Glitter (optional)

Freedom to Make What You WantThanks to the variety of symbols that represent St. Patrick’s Day you have many different types of window clings to be able to make. The most popular symbols to make for your clings are the lucky shamrock and the rainbow. Once you get the hang of making your own clings try pots of gold, a leprechaun hat or even the Irish flag.Making the St. Patrick’s Day Window ClingsAfter you have selected what you will be making, it is time to start creating your clings. To start, draw out what you want to make for your window cling on the wax paper. Next, go over the lines of your drawing with the correct color of puffy paint and fill in the spaces between the lines. To add a little sparkle, sprinkle glitter on the wet puffy paint. When you have finished making all of your clings, put them in a safe place and allow them to dry overnight for at least 6 hours. In the morning, you simply peel your new St. Patrick’s Day window cling from the wax paper and stick it to the window of choice.Note:Before you embark on this fun project there are two things you need to know. One, these clings will not stick to a window that is too cold. Two, if they are left on a window in hot, direct sunlight they could melt and stain your window like any other cling. Most people don’t have any more issues with these particular St. Patrick’s Day window clings than they would with other window clings, but just be aware of what could happen.
