Nothing says Easter like the Easter egg. They symbolize the season just like Christmas tree ornaments symbolize Christmas. They are also as easy to decorate with as Christmas tree ornaments; which is why you sometimes see Easter eggs decorating trees this time of year.For our purposes though, we are going to leave the trees alone and will be making your home windows look fabulous, instead.How to Make Easter Egg Window An Easter egg window is very simple to create. All you need to do is take decorative thread or ribbon, and attach one end to the top of the window and the other end to the egg. You can vary the length of the thread or ribbon to have the eggs hang at random or you can have them hang in a particular pattern. Some people like hanging the eggs in an arch and then putting an Easter window picture in the middle of the arch.Using Plastic Easter EggsPlastic Easter eggs that are usually used for egg hunts aren’t really a good choice to use in your Easter egg window, for two reasons. One, they are designed to come apart in the middle and having parts of your window display falling open every now and then will probably get a little annoying. You could tape the egg halves together, but that ends up looking bad.Two, you would have to use tape to attach the thread or ribbon to the egg. Tape already does not stick well to an odd-shaped object like the top of an egg and the sun from the window will also weaken the tape causing the eggs to fall off the thread or ribbon.Other Easter EggsEaster eggs that were designed for decorating rather than for hunting always work better for Easter egg windows. There are even fancy, sparkling Easter eggs that you can find in the stores that were specifically created to be hung, as they are made with their own thread or ribbon loops on them already. Look for these types of egg to make creating your Easter egg windows easier.You can also use Easter eggs that are made from soft plastic or styrofoam and secure the thread or ribbon to them with a sharp object or by threading the thread or ribbon through them and then knotting the thread or ribbon on the bottom of the egg.Once Easter is over, remove the eggs to put them in storage, and then use them again for next year’s Easter egg window.
