Water running in your home from your window is a sure sign that your window is leaking. Well, unless you have the window open and it is raining outside, then you should just close the window. But if the window is not open and you can’t figure out where the water is coming from, you have a problem. And all joking aside, seeing water come in your home through your windows is actually a very serious problem. Because if you are able to see the water coming in your home from a leaking window, you have to ask yourself where else is that water going that you can’t see?Signs You Have Water Sneaking in Through a Leaky WindowIf you have any of the following damage in your home, then you have a leaky window that is letting water in and needs to be fixed or replaced now!

  1. The wall around the window feels wet or has water stains.
  2. The paint around the window on the wall is suddenly bubbled and starting to peel off.
  3. There is mold or mildew growing along the edges of the window, and in the crevices of any moveable or working parts around the window.
  4. The paint on the window sill is starting to peel off.

What Do You Do If You Find Any Of This Damage? As soon as you start seeing any of these signs it is time to call in a professional.First, they need to assess how extensive the damage is. Is there serious damage to the interior of the wall? Has the water damaged the frame of the home?Second, they need to find out exactly where the water is coming from. Once they can find the source of the leak they can determine how to stop it so that it doesn’t cause any more damage to your home. In most cases the leak can be stopped with a simple fix to stop the water for at least a little bit. But, if your windows have started to leak they are more than likely past their prime. Which means at this point that any fixes done to stop the leak would only be a temporary fix before the issue starts up again in the same location, or the window starts leaking in a different place. Sort of like putting a bandage on a broken bone, the intentions are good and it may stop any bleeding but it doesn’t fix the actual problem. To fix the problem and keep it from coming back, it may be time for a new window.Source: http://www.mastermylist.com/windows/warning-signs-that-your-home-has-a-serious-window-leak/
