Don’t like having the same Christmas window decorations as everyone else in your neighborhood? Do you prefer to be unique and go your own way, rather than be restricted by what the stores in your area sell?Then here are two great decorating ideas for unique Christmas windows for people just like you.Recycled OrnamentsEvery year we exclaim how beautiful certain Christmas cards are that we receive in the mail, but then at the end of the season they all go in the garbage. This year, instead of just displaying and then throwing away these cards, let’s recycle the most beautiful cards into unique window ornaments that you can be sure no one else in the neighborhood will have.First, take the chosen Christmas card and decide what part you want to save and create into an ornament. For example, if it is a Christmas tree, then cut around the Christmas tree and you will have a Christmas tree shaped window ornament. If it is a Santa, then cut around Santa and you will have a Santa shaped ornament. For general scenes or when you like the whole picture, cut out the best part of the scene in the shape of a circle or an oval.Just remember that when you are cutting the ornament out, don’t forget to create an extra space on top where the ornament will hang from.Second, create a backing for your window ornament. This can be with another ornament that was cut from a different card in the exact same shape, or you can also use a piece of sparkly scrapbooking paper. Secure both pieces to each other with glue or other sticky material.Third, laminate your new ornament so that it lasts longer and survives storage.Fourth, punch a hole in the top of the ornament and string it with beautiful thread or yarn.Finally, hang it in your window.Christmas GlowIf you prefer a less crafty approach to unique Christmas windows, go with the glass and glow effect. To get this you are going to hang clear glass ornaments (or you can also do ornaments with a lot of glitter on them) and hang them in your window. Hang them so they stop about 1/3 of the way down.You can hang them all at the same level or at different levels, it really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you hang at least 3 in each window and that you do this for every window in the front of your home, or it will not have the same beautiful effect.Next, place an electric candle on the sill of the window, or wrap the interior of the window with white Christmas lights. Now at night the light from the candle or the Christmas lights will make the window glow and your ornaments sparkle, giving you a unique Christmas display that will make your house stand out in your neighborhood.
