In the final part of Unique Window Cleaning Situations, we cover the nastiest item that could be stuck on your window. This is something that you do not want to find all over your windows, as it ranks right up there with silly string as far as being able to cause permanent and extensive damage. So without further ado, let’s talk about what to do if you get your windows egged.

Egg on your window glass can be hard to remove

Egged WindowsOnce and egg is throw and splatters on your window and home, the damage starts to happen immediately. The more time that passes with that egg in the same place the greater the damage. For example, it will eat away at the paint on the window frame, and it could possibly cause permanent damage to the glass itself. When the egg dries, it has caused the maximum amount of damage it can and is also more difficult to clean off of the glass.Cleaning Egged Windows Once you find the egg on your windows, try to get as much of the egg off as possible before actually cleaning. Spraying the egged area with high-pressured water will help to remove parts of the egg that is not fully dry yet and also will soften the egg that is dry.Once you have soaked the egg, use a towel to wipe up as much of it as you can. Don’t spread it around though, use the towel to gather and remove the inside and shell of the egg to get them off the window. Again, DO NOT spread the towel around! Spreading the towel around will just smear the egg all over the window and create an even bigger mess.If the egg has already dried, after the water softens the dried egg, use a squeegee or a window scraper to remove the egg from the window. You may have to repeat this process several times before you are able to get the egg completely off of your window.Once all of the egg is removed, use glass cleaner or a homemade solution to clean your windows just as you normally would.Photo Credit: Catherine McDonald , Global News
